All Star Week

The 11th annual All-Star Sports Week in Huntsville Alabama was an enormous success this July! With the attendance of 2,000 coaches and 60 vendors there were many activities to choose from during the week.

All-Star week offered clinics for almost every sport and with speakers from about 15 colleges and universities there were plenty of activities.

One of the major highlights of the week was the PREPARE Sports First Aid course that were taught during two sessions on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.  The PREPARE course is offered by the National Center for Sports Safety located in Birmingham.

The course was offered at 8:30 and 1:00 each instructed by Jennifer Byrd, ATC.  At a little over 154 coaches in attendance for the PREPARE   Sports First Aid course, it was an incredible turnout.

PREPARE is an excellent course that focuses on educating coaches in three key areas:  injury prevention, emergency response, and sports safety.

PREPARE is specifically designed to provide all coaches with a foundation in the most basic areas of sports safety education.

PREPARE is specifically designed to provide all coaches with a foundation in the most basic areas of sports safety education.

When coaches take this course they gain the confidence to properly respond to emergency situations, reduce liability where athletic injuries are concerned, learn valuable information on general sports safety and reducing risk.  Most importantly, coaches gain knowledge that can be beneficial on and off the playing field.

Please join us next summer for the PREPARE Sports First Aid course in summer of 2008 at All-Star Week.  In the meantime check out our website at www.sportsafety.org and join our e-newsletter, by sending your email address to alivingston@sportssafety.org.  For more information on upcoming PREPARE classes feel free to contact us.  We look forward to an exciting fall for PREPARE.
