National Center for Sports Safety and Alabama State University Team Up to PREPARE More Coaches around the State

Birmingham, AL.…The National Center for Sports Safety (NCSS) announces that the organization has partnered with Alabama State University (ASU) to offer the PREPARE sports safety course free of charge to coaches on all levels of competition throughout Alabama.
ASU was awarded a $400,000 grant from the State of Alabama. The NCSS will receive a majority of that grant to educate coaches with the PREPARE course. The NCSS will offer the course both online and at various hands-on clinics throughout the state.
The National Center for Sports Safety is focused on elevating awareness for parents and coaches of youth sports both on and off the field. Our goal is to decrease the number of sports injuries by helping youth and high school sporting events become safer venues through Emergency Action Planning. This educational program is provided at no cost to the citizens of Alabama.
The PREPARE course consists of seven modules aimed at providing valuable information on how to prevent injuries and respond to emergency situations. In addition, the course teaches things like how to prevent heat illness and manage exercise induced-asthma attacks. PREPARE is relevant to coaches on all levels of youth sports and will help coaches and volunteers be better prepared this season both on and off the playing field.
The primary initiative of the grant is to better prepare Alabama coaches on and off the athletic fields and courts. By offering coaches free classes around the state, NCSS is allowed greater outreach to coaches. The more coaches are prepared the safer our athletes will be while at practice and games.
The NCSS was founded to promote the importance of injury prevention and safety on all levels of youth sports through education and research. The NCSS focuses on decreasing the number and/or severity of injuries through developing and teaching sports safety courses and collecting, analyzing and researching injury data.
