NCSS CREATES THE FREE PARENT & ATHLETE VIDEO
An Educational and Informative Sports Safety Video

Birmingham, AL (August 2, 2010) — The National Center for Sports Safety (NCSS) produced a parent and athlete video this year. The purpose is to educate the public about preventative measures parents and athletes should take and ways to be proactive in order to assist all coaches practice sports safety in youth sports. This video is currently offered to the public free of charge.

Reviewed and approved by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) medical advisory committee, the 16-minute video covers five essential topics that parents and athletes need to be familiar with in the event of an emergency on the field or court. Video topics include concussions, pre-participation physicals, cardiac and genetic disorders, heat illnesses and staph (Staphylococcus aureus)/ MRSA infections.

The video will engage parents and athletes in becoming proactive about sports safety and tools to prevent injuries and emergencies. Being aware and being prepared can lower the risk of injury!
