Sponsorship Tips


Don't wait on the sidelines for someone else to secure funding for your youth athletic club or league. Become the PASS leader in your community today!


Tip 1

Utilize contacts that you already have in your community. If you do not have local contacts, develop them by sending an introduction letter. Explain the “who, what and why” of PASS and the NCSS, “why” you need their support and “how” they can give support.


Tip 2

Arrange an in-person meeting. Go PREPARED to answer questions and provide program materials. If an in-person meeting can not be arranged, mail materials to the prospective sponsor.


Tip 3

Avoid ambiguity. Expressly state what you are asking for. In businesses, before committing to anything with a monetary amount attached, the message must be consistent and what you are asking for must be clear.


Tip 4

Follow up, follow up, follow up. Many people are busy and have various responsibilities. By following up, not only will the prospective sponsor remember you but the necessity of sports safety message will begin to resonate for them. This is what is most important.


Tip 5

Send a thank you note. Whether a sponsorship was obtained or not, always thank the individuals involved for their time (and donation if applicable).
